Heat transfer fluid
Propylene-glycol-water mixtures are commonly used as the heat transfer fluid. An antifreeze concentration of about 40 % of glycol in the mixture prevents the system from damage. even at temperatures of -21 °c, the system remains in an operable state. temperatures below this protection point will cause the formation of ice pulp, which however is not able to destroy tubes and piping. However, today’s high-end flat collectors and direct-flow vacuum tube collectors may cause the premature degrading of conventional heat transfer fluid at high stagnation temperatures. In order to prevent this process, the operating pressure of the system can be limited to 4 bar or a high-temperature-resistant heat transfer fl uid can be used.
Important notice about the use of heat transfer fluids:
Only use heat transfer fluid which is suitable for the system it is used in
All parts of the system that come into contact with fluids must be glycolresistant
Concentrations of more than 50 % of glycol are to be avoided in order to achieve optimum efficiency
Tyfocor® L and LS are not subject to the ordinance of Hazardous Substances.
Tyfocor® L Canister of 11 kg concentrate
Tyfocor® L provides long-term antifreeze and corrosion protection for cooling and heating systems, solar thermal and heat pump systems. The product likewise serves as special glycol brine for the food and beverage industry. Tyfocor® L is a non-toxic, virtually odourless, hygroscopic liquid. It is based on propylene glycol, which poses no hazard to health and which may be used as a coolant or heat-transfer fluid in food processing and water purification applications. The corrosion inhibitors contained in Tyfocor® L reliably protect the metals normally used in solar installations and other heating equipment against corrosion, ageing and deposits over long periods. Tyfocor® L prevents the surfaces of heat exchangers from becoming fouled, and ensures consistently high thermal efficiency.Tyfocor® L is miscible with water in all proportions. Its mixtures with water protect against frost at temperatures of down to -50 °C, depending on their concentration. Its performance is not impaired by hard water, and there is no danger of precipitation.
Mixtures of Tyfocor® L and water do not separate. Tyfocor® L does not contain any nitrites, phosphates or amines
Tyfocor® LS – Ready-to-use reversibly evaporable special heat-transfer fluid based on 1,2-propylene glycol, for use in solar thermal systems. Tyfocor® LS is a clear, red-fluorescent liquid with a faint odour, based on physiologically unobjectionable propylene glycol, and water. It has been designed especially for utilisation fluid in solar heating equipment under elevated thermal conditions (vacuum tube collectors). The corrosion inhibitors contained in Tyfocor® LS reliably protect the metals normally used in solar installations against corrosion, ageing and deposits over long periods. Tyfocor® LS prevents the surfaces of heat exchangers from becoming fouled, and ensures consistently high thermal efficiency. In order to maintain its specific properties, Tyfocor® LS must not be mixed with other heat transfer fluids, and must never be diluted by water. If leakages or other losses occur, the heat transfer fluid in the system must be replenished with Tyfocor® LS only!
